The Gleneagles Experience (ULGB16)

11 Days: $6,582 per person inclusive of superior rooms in superior hotels,most meals, personally guided sightseeing and private car and driver. Airfare is additional and we will be glad to assist you. Business Class airfare at special rates is both available and highly recommended.

Day 1 Depart USA

You board your flight for the overnight journey to Edinburgh and the beginning of your Scottish adventure highlighted by a stay at Gleneagles .

 
Day 2 Welcome to Scotland

Upon arrival and customs formalities you are met by your driver who takes you to Edinburgh and then on an orientation tour of the city including a light lunch. Upon arriving at your hotel you have a chance to walk around the neighborhood or relax until dinner.

Day 3 A Cultural Exploration of Glasgow

After breakfast you will meet up with your driver for the trip to Glasgow, Scotland's other major city. Once in Glasgow you will commence a walking tour of the key sights of the city. Much as Gaudi dominates Barcelona and Luytens, Delhi so Charles Rennie Mackintosh was the chief architect of Glasgow at the turn of the last century. From office and municipal buildings to private homes, his influence is pervasive and you will see some of his landmark works that fit so well as Glasgow has moved from a city of commerce to a city of culture. After lunch you will head for Pollock Park to the Burrell Collection a major and eclectic art collection bequeathed to the city by Sir William Burrell and the centerpiece of Glasgow's many fine museums. After a guided tour, your host will take you to the main shopping area defined by Buchanan, Argyll and Sacuchiehall Streets. Next to London, Glasgow is the largest retail area in Great Britain. After a little "retail therapy" you are driven back to Edinburgh.

Day 4 A Drive to Auchterarder

This morning you will meet your driver for the trip to Auchterarder and the world-famous Gleneagles. You will initially head north and drive by the eastern side of Loch Lomond before heading into the Perthshire countryside. You will stop for lunch before arriving at your destination. Gleneagles has been a top ranked hotel for over 80 years in fact, it hosted the G8 summit a couple of years ago. Renowned for its sumptuous accommodations, superb cuisine and attentive and friendly service, Gleneagles is all that a resort should be. Upon arrival you check in to your room and have the rest of the afternoon to explore the hotel and parts of the grounds since it covers 850 acres. Tonight you will have dinner at one of the four restaurants you will sample during your stay.

Days 5- 7 Enjoying Gleneagles

During the day we have arranged for a myriad of activities for you to participate in. each person can choose the activity they want for that day including

  •  A round of Golf at one of the three championship Courses
  • Instructions at the Gleneagles' Golf Academy
  • Horse-back riding or carriage driving lessons
  •  Introduction to Falconry lesson
  • Trout Fishing
  • Off Road Driving course
  • Health and Beauty treatments at the Spa

You have one activity per day but they may be repeated. For example you can play a round of golf each day or go trout fishing etc. We have left lunches open because of the various schedules but dinner is included each evening

Day 8 Perth, the East Neuk of Fife and St. Andrews

After breakfast, your driver will be waiting and your first stop will be the country town of Perth situated on the banks of the River Tay. It was, at one time the capital of Scotland where kings came to be crowned. You have a chance to walk its pedestrian friendly shopping area before heading to the coast and what is called the East Neuk of Fife. You will drive around the coast visiting some quaint fishing villages before arriving in the ancient town of St. Andrews. You will visit the ruins of the old cathedral and the grounds of its prestigious university. You have lunch overlooking the old course and the famous club house and have a chance to explore the town and the nearby beach made famous through the opening and closing credits of "Chariots of Fire" before heading to your Edinburgh hotel.

Day 9 A Private Tour of Edinburgh

After breakfast, your guide will be ready to take us on a personalized tour of both the "old" and the "new" city of Edinburgh including Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood House, home to Mary Queen of Scots, The Royal Mile and the famous Princes Street. After lunch the rest of the afternoon is at leisure. This evening you have the opportunity to savor one of Edinburgh's fine restaurants.

Day 10 A Gourmet Farewell

We have left this day free for you to do your own personal sightseeing or to do some shopping on Princes Street. This evening it is our pleasure to host you for a farewell dinner at Number One, the Michelin starred restaurant in The Balmoral Hotel located at 1 Princes Street. You will enjoy the chef's tasting menu with each course served with the appropriate champagne or wine. A perfect way to finish your Gleneagles experiemce.

Day 11 Return to USA

Your driver will be ready to drive you to the airport for our return flight to the US
