Day 1 Depart USA

You board your transatlantic flight headed for Italy and the beginning of your culinary adventure


Day 2 Welcome to Italy

Upon arrival you are met by your guide and escorted to your delightful Relais located in the countryside close to Verona and in the heart of the wine area. After checking in you have the chance to relax and perhaps take a dip in the pool. In the evening enjoy a welcome drink as you review your planned adventures for the week including cooking classes, which take place in the Relais, and excursions in the surrounding area. After drinks you walk to a nearby restaurant for a welcome dinner with local wine.


Day 3 Verona and a Cooking Class

After breakfast you meet your guide for the short drive into Verona an enchanting rich in history and art. You will stroll around the city centre from the Piazza Bra to the aristocratic Piazza del Signori and the picturesque Piazza Erbe. The River Adige is at the end of every street with its old bridges looking like lace reflected in the water. After your exploration you have lunch at a well known restaurant before returning to the Relais. In late afternoon you meet the chef for a hands-on cooking class covering a variety of courses. After the lesson you adjourn to the dining room to enjoy the fruits of your labors along with the fruits of the vine.

Day 4 The Olive Riviera and a Cooking Class

Today you will visit Lake Garda one of the most charming of the Italian Pre-Alpine lakes. Because of its mild micro-climate it offers a vast array of flora. On the east side of the lake is a 30 mile route of coves, small bays villages and castles all enhanced by the profusion of olive trees and other Mediterranean plants. In addition to touring the lake you will also visit a local outdoor market before enjoying lunch with wine in an excellent restaurant specializing in fish fresh from the lake. After lunch you return to the Relais where after the chance for a little nap you return to the kitchen for another enlightening lesson and enjoyable dinner

Day 5 La Strada del Vino and a Cooking Class

This morning you will join your guide for a trip along the "wine road" that runs through the Veneto the home of well known wines like Soave, Bardolino, Valpolicella and Amerone. You are headed for Amerone which, in addition to its wine heritage, was also the birthplace of Dante. Your destination is a 17th Century villa dedicated to the creation of superior wine. You will get a tour of the vineyard and the cellars followed by a lunch consisting of pasta, cold cuts, bread, cheese and grilled vegetables all accompanied by Valpolicella Classico, Valpolicella Superiore and Amerone. Dessert is comprised of sweet cookies paired with Recioto. After your visit your return to the Relais and your final cooking class in Verona followed by a farewell banquet.

Day 6 From Verona to Venice

After breakfast you are met by your guide and taken to the jetty on the Venetian mainland. Here you will meet with your guide who will take you by water taxi to your hotel. Since your hotel sits directly on the canal you disembark from the water taxi into the hotel's ornate lobby. After you have checked in your guide will be waiting to take you for Chichetti which is the Venetian equivalent of Tapas. After lunch you proceed on a walking tour of the key highlights of Classical Venice focusing on the buildings in and around Piazza San Marco. In the evening you dine at a charming restaurant within walking distance of the hotel

Day 7 The Rialto Market and a Cooking Class

Early in the morning you will meet the hotel's chef who will take you in a "gondola shuttle" across the Grand Canal to the famous Rialto Market situated directly across from your hotel. You will wander the colorful market selecting the freshest of fish and vegetables for your lunch. You return to the hotel's kitchen where you learn the secrets of Venetian cuisine followed by lunch. After your class, the rest of the day is at leisure

Day 8 Your Personal Venice

We have left this day open for your to discover Venice at your own pace. Your guide will have pointed out the key parts of the city and now you can explore in depth. You may want to take the Vaporetto out to the Lido and enjoy a lunch at one of the hotels facing the sea. You can also take a tour to the Islands in the lagoon or opt for a private cruise in a gondola. Whatever you do make sure to create your own memories of VeniceB

Day 9 A Bellini at Harry's Bar and a Farewell dinner on the Grand Canal

You have the morning to coninue to explore Venice on your own. Your hotel is centrally located and the Rialto Bridge just a short walk away. After lunch your guide will meet you and take you to the nearby Vaporetto dock. This is public transportation Venetian style and your will use the Vaporetto to see the sights of the canal and also visit a few. Your tour ends at Harry's Bar, a Venice landmark where you enjoy their signature Bellini Cocktail made from Peach Nectar and Prosecco. Your guide escorts you back to the hotel where you enjoy a farewell dinner with wine on the hotel's restaurant terrace directly on the Grand Canal.

Day 10 Return to USA

After breakfast, you meet your guide and take a water taxi to the airport where you begin your journey home arriving later the same day
