Day 1: Depart USA
Your Luxury Holiday in Southern Africa begins as soon as you board your aircraft bound for Johannesburg.
Day 2: Arrival in South Africa
Upon arrival you are met by one of our drivers and taken to Pretoria where you will overnight in an intimate none room hotel offering spectacular views of the Pretoria city lights.
Day 3: All aboard Rovos Rail
After breakfast you will be taken to the private station of Rovos Rail. This company has a well-earned reputation for its truly world class travel experiences. Once on board you settle in to your compartment made up for day time travel. At 9:30AM the train leaves the station. Enjoy the suburban views and soon it is time for luncheon in one of the dining cars. As you dine you travel north through Warmbaths and Nylstroom, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn. You will briefly stop as you cross the border into Zimbabwe. Meet your traveling companions over afternoon tea and then join them for cocktails and dinner.

Day 4: A Day on the Rails
You have a full day to relive the days of luxury train travel. Read a book, enjoy the exotic scenery, meet new friends for drinks, and eat incredibly well. Enjoy a tranquil night’s sleep as your train overnights in Mpopoma.

Day 5: Afternoon Game Drive
As your train begins its journey you enjoy breakfast in the dining car. Today you will be skirting the edge of the Hwange Game Park, noted for its large elephant population. This will involve a straight ride of 68 miles one of Africa’s longest stretches of straight railway line. In mid-afternoon you stop in a siding and board 4wd vehicles for an afternoon game drive at The Hide, a noted private game reserve. This will provide a contrast between raw nature and the comforts of civilization. After dinner on board you overnight at Thompson’s Junctions for your last night on board.

Day 6: Arrival at Victoria Falls
As you eat breakfast, the train is getting close to the station at Victoria Falls. Upon arrival you disembark and are met by a guide from Thorntree River Lodge who will assist with your luggage and then take you to the falls where you can view them from various angles. After your visit you are taken to the lodge which is not far from the falls and situated on a pleasant stretch of the Zambesi River. Enjoy sundowners in a floating platform attached to the banks of the lodge but floating with the river. After dinner take a dip in your own private plunge pool before retiring.

Day 7: Exploring the Zambezi
Today you have the chance to go fishing (catch and release) where the Tigerfish make a great challenge for a fisherman. Return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation. Board a boat for a sunset cruise on the Zambesi before returning for another dinner with wine.

Day 8: From the Zambezi to the Winelands
You will be transferred to Victoria Falls airport for a flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival you will be met and driven to the wine lands which are about 40 miles outside Cape Town. Your destination is Franschhoek which is one of the oldest towns in South Africa, established by French Huguenots seeking a new life. One thing they know was wine and that was the beginning of the South African wine industry. Your hotel is a combination vineyard and boutique hotel. Soon after arrival you will have the chance to taste a variety of their wines. The town has a wide variety of restaurants.

Day 9: The Franschhoek Wine Tram
Today you experience a unique and leisurely way to see the Franschhoek Valley as you journey through rolling vineyards in an open-side tram stopping at some of South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates. This hop-on and hop–off program is one of the best ways to take in the breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world class cuisine, fine wines and 300 years of history.

Day 10: Cape Town
After a leisurely breakfast you are driven into Cape Town to your boutique hotel located on its own quay close to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront a major shopping, dining and entertainment area.

Day 11: Exploring Cape Town
In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel for a private full day tour of the city. You start with the world famous Table Mountain. On a clear day from the summit of Table Mountain you get spectacular views of the city, its waterfront, Camps Bay, the majestic Hottentots Holland Mountains to the East and the mountains of the Cape Peninsula all the way down to Cape Point to the south. The Table Mountain Cableway, a must for all visitors to the Cape, boasts revolving floors, giving you a 360 degree view. After descending the mountain, you will depart on a tour of the city taking in Signal Hill, where the Noon day gun is fired everyday but Sunday. You will travel through the colorful Bo-Kaap or Cape Malay Quarter, past the Grand Parade, City Hall and the Castle of Good Hope. Your guide will return you to your hotel.

Day 12: Cape Point Private Tour
You will be picked up by your private guide for a full day tour of Cape Point. This spectacular sight, covered in endemic fynbos and home to breathtaking bays, beaches and rolling green hills and valleys is just 40 miles outside the city. This region is one of the richest areas for plants in the world, home to nearly 20% of Africa’s flora. Highlights of the trip include one of the world’s most spectacular drives, Hout Bay, Chapman’s Peak, Noordhoek Beach, the Cape Point Nature Reserve the Cape point funicular to a lighthouse with views of both the point and the ocean, Boulders Penguin Colony, Simonstown, Kalk Bay and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
