Customizable Itinerary - 11 Days
Day 1: USA-Malawi
Tonight you board an aircraft for the flight to Malawi and the beginning of your Luxury Africa Getaway
Day 2: Arrival in Lilongwe
You arrive in Lilongwe the capital of Malawi and are met by one of our drivers who will take you to your boutique hotel for a good night’s rest
Day 3: Driving to Liwonde National Park
After breakfast you will meet your guide who will be taking through the Malawi countryside to Liwonde National Park which is one of the smaller parks but most popular because of its wide variety of game. You will stop along the way for lunch and arrive in time to take an afternoon game drive before dinner. After dinner try some star gazing through the telescope in the lounge.

Days 4 & 5: Exploring and Enjoying at Mvuu Lodge
In the local dialect, Mvuu means Hippo and there are plenty of these absorbing creatures in the river right outside the camp. The lodge overlooks a tranquil lagoon, just off the Shire River with the main lounge area set high above the water in an area of captivating beauty. Here is where you will find the telescope that is not only useful for stargazing at night but birdwatching during the day. In addition to birds, in this lush and fertile area, an excellent diversity of animals can be seen including kudu, rhinos, elephants and crocodiles. Your game watching will include boat safaris, walks and traditional game drives, day and night. The Rhino Tracking Experience is a two to three hour guided drive and walk, tracking the endangered black rhino and learning how they are monitored and conserved. When you are not out on safari you can enjoy the lodge suits including your luxury tent with ensuite bathroom and its own deck built to look over the water. The lodge facilities include a dining room, pub, lounge area and a swimming pool.

Day 6: Liwonde to Cape Maclear
In the morning, your driver will be waiting to drive you to the quaint resort of Cape Maclear which offers a variety of bars and restaurants located beachside but with scenic mountains in the background. While you will certainly be able to visit, your resort is located on the other side of the Nankumba Peninsula but still within Lake Malawi National Park. You check into your resort and are escorted to your villa, one of only ten and designed to blend into the natural surroundings.

Days 7-9: The Magic of Lake Malawi
You have three full days to explore the wonders of Lake Malawi which makes up 20% of the country’s total area. It is 350 miles long and up to 50 miles wide. As such it is one of the longest freshwater lake in the world and, at 2,100 feet one of the deepest, exceeding even Loch Ness. Despite numerous fishing villages scattered around the lake, there are still miles of uninhabited beaches for you to explore. With over 600 species of fish many brilliantly colored. Imagine the Great Barrier Reef but with no Salt water and no sharks. Imagine crystal clear water with a sandy bottom. Dr. David Livingstone named Lake Malawi the “Lake os Stars” presumably because of the sun sparkling on the water. While at Pumulani, your resort, you can snorkel or scuba dive, go kayaking or take a sunset cruise on an Arab dhow. On land you can go for guided bikes or mountain biking. While all your meals are included you may choose to head to Cape Maclear for a nightcap one evening.

Day 10: Return to USA
In the morning you will be transferred to Lilongwe where you catch a flight that will begin your journey back home unless you have decided to add a couple of nights in Paris?
Day 11: Arrive in USA
Unless you are in Paris you arrive home in the afternoon
