Customizable Itinerary - 16 Days
Day 1: USA-Malawi
This evening you board a flight to Europe that will connect you to Africa and the start of your Luxury Adventure Holiday in Malawi
Day 2: Arrival in Lilongwe
You arrive in Lilongwe and are met by one of our drivers who will take you to your hotel for an overnight stay
Day 3: Private Island, Lake Malawi
After breakfast you meet your driver and drive to Senga Bay on the shores of Lake Malawi. The scenery will be pleasant and introduce you to the warmth of the people of Malawi. A boat will take you to the private island and your own individual chalet. Change into your bathing suit and enjoy the crystal clear fresh water with sand between your toes.

Day 4: Relaxing at Lake Malawi
You can spend your day admiring the wildlife which includes hippos, crocodiles, fish eagles and over 1,000 species of multi-hued fish. Other activities can include tubing, scuba diving, and water skiing, kayaking or just enjoying a treatment at the spa

Day 5: Highway to the Kingdom of Tea
In the morning you will transfer from the island to the mainland. You will be met and taken on a scenic drive to an area that lies in the hills between the city of Blantyre and Mount Mulanje. You will be staying at the home of a family that has been in the tea and coffee business for three generations starting in the 1920’s. You will get a tour of the tea fields and a lesson on how the tea is produced. You will have your own suite and take meals in the elegant dining room.

Day 6: To the Foothills of Mount Mulanje
After an early breakfast you leave the tea plantation and drive to Likhubula Forest lodge where you meet with your guide who will be escorting your hike the following day. You will get an initial briefing and map orientation. In the afternoon you will take a short hike to nearby pools and surrounding area before returning to the lodge.

Day 7: The ‘Island in the sky’
Starting very early, you will hike up to Chamber Basin via the well-weathered Sky Line Path. The fairly shaded route, though demanding, offers spectacular views of the Likhubula River Valley and its underling plains. Mount Mulanje is the highest peak in Malawi rising to over 9,000 feet. Dubbed the ‘Island in the Sky’, its imposing exposed rock face dominates the surrounding landscape and, on misty days, the mountain’s base is shrouded in a haze that creates the effect of a ‘floating island’. You will enjoy a picnic lunch at Chapaluka Pools at the top of the plateau before descending via the more gradual Chapaluka trail cooling off with a refreshing swim at Dwize Lankalamba rock pools at the bottom. Day 8: Journey to the Zomba Plateau
After breakfast you will have an opportunity to visit the Arts and Crafts Market at the gate of the forest reserve on the way out of Mulanje. From Mulange you make your way to the Zomba Plateau. Situated in southern Malawi, the city of Zomba formerly served as the colonial capital of the country. It is known for its colonial architecture and its location on the southern slopes of the plateau. In the afternoon you may want to visit the city’s botanical gardens.

Day 9: A Day around Zomba
Zomba serves as an excellent base to explore the surrounding area. The rugged wilderness of lush forests, glistening lakes, and cascading waterfalls lends itself to adventurous outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, horse riding, birdwatching, mountain biking and rock climbing. Day 10: A Visit to Liwonde National Park
You leave the Zomba plateau as your guide takes you to Liwonde National Park one of Malawi’s finest game parks. You drive though Ulongwe Village before taking a boat across the Shire River. You are taken to your luxury tent and have lunch and time for a swim in the pool before enjoying an afternoon game drive prior to dinner.

Day 11: Game Viewing in Liwonde
You have a full day to enjoy the quality of game viewing at Mvuu (means Hippo in Tonga). Malawi’s main river, the Shire forms the western boundary of the reserve. The hippos take full advantage of the river by floating in large pods. You’ll also see kudu, elephants, crocodiles and even black rhinos. You can enjoy a variety of options in addition to game viewing including boat safaris, game walks and canoeing. If you are interested in birding, this too is your place

Day 12: Return to Lake Malawi
After breakfast, you will road transfer from Liwonde to Lake Malawi. On arrival you will take a one hour boat ride to your camp which offers the best freshwater scuba diving in the world and the best snorkelling on the lake. After the drive, grab a cold one and a hammock and think about the next two days

Days 13 & 14: Days at Mombo Island Camp
You have two full days to do as much or as little as you want. You can lie in a hammock in between dips in the pristine fresh water or embrace all on offer including scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking, walking and birdwatching. You also have the option of boating or paddling to explore the granite islands of the lake.

Day 15: Return to USA
You will have a very early morning boat transfer from Mumbo Island followed by a road transfer to Lilongwe Airport where you begin your return to the USA
