Day 1: Depart USA
You board your trans-Pacific flight headed to the myriad islands of Indonesia of which you will visit one, but what an island it is!
Day 2: En Route
Cross the International Date Line and “lose” a day which you will gain back on the return trip.
Day 3: Arrival in Bali
When you arrive in Bali you will be met by one of our drivers and delivered to your resort. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 4: A Day of Rest, a Night of Dining
Given the long flight we suggest a day of relaxation which can include relaxing in your private pool or spending time in the spa. The main town is also within walking distance. In the evening you will embark on a culinary journey around Ubud and begin the evening with sunset over Sayan Valley. At a wonderful house with lawn atop the valley, sip a cocktail and enjoy Japanese-Latin fusion cuisine tapas while the cicadas begin to sing in the dusk. As the evening calls, take a short ride to Ubud centre. Here you will witness a traditional dance by the beautiful candle-lit lotus pool of the Saraswati Palace. Continue to a semi-open wooden Joglo-style venue amidst the rice fields; Ubud as it is imagined. Enjoy some typical Balinese cuisine. Celebrate the end of the evening with a tasting session of sweet sins that have been prepared just for you.

Day 5: Ubud…Out and About
Spend this morning discovering the many charms of Ubud. Lace up the walking shoes for a gentle walk on famous Campuhan ridge. Wander amid the verdant fields stopping to take photos of probably the most gorgeous hillside vista in the region. At the end of the path you hike along the paved road past the Campuhan bridges and visit the Blanco Renaissance Museum. Antonio Blanco is arguably the most famous artist to have ever lived in Bali and his former home has been converted into a museum with an extensive collection of his works as well as his studio. From the studio you will be taken to Wanung Ibu Oka, a busy local style eatery that is popular with locals and travelers alike to enjoy the favorite dish of the Balinese people, Babi Guling or suckling pig. Return to the resort for a Balinese massage. In the evening you will be taken to Bridges restaurant, a fine ding venue with a fantastic view next to the river. After dinner return to the resort.

Day 6: A Balinese Cooking Class and Fine French Cooking
In the morning you will be taken to Marga village. You will enter a typical Balinese house where a local chef will explain the cooking tools and ingredients of basic Balinese cooking. After completing the class you get to enjoy the fruits of your labors. Following lunch you proceed to Bali’s UNESCO-listed Jatiluwih, which offers the widest panoramic views of Bali’s iconic rice terraces. This area is known as the granary of Bali. Take a walk through the rice fields before returning to the resort. Tonight, “Mozaic” is on the menu. The French-styled restaurant using local ingredients with its beautiful gardens is tucked away in a quieter part of Ubud. Enjoy a tasting menu in a lush and romantic open garden or in the cozy dining pavilion.

Day 7: Balinese Temples and Barista Secrets
Set off on this Bali temple day to explore the island’s sacred temples and scenic spots. Begin with a visit to Pura Gunung Kawi, set amid lush rice terraces. Accessible only by a series of staircases, the effort is worth it to admire ten shrines carved directly into a cliff face. Continue to Pura Tirta Empul a popular water temple for local devotees Learn why water is such an important element in Balinese Hindu Culture and take a soak in Tirta Empul’s cool spring water. Take a break at midday for lunch at a restaurant overlooking the Tjampuhan ridge. After lunch you will be taken to a coffee studio where you meet with a trained barista to learn expert coffee brewing techniques including espresso, latte art or professional ways to judge the quality of coffee. In the evening you will be taken to Locavore Restaurant. This award-winning restaurant offers five dishes which are cooked in an open air kitchen by a Dutch chef and his team. In between these dishes you will be served many small creative “amuse-bouche” for a sample of many different flavors and dishes.

Day 8: Sanur and a Seafood Barbeque on Jimbaran Beach
You have the morning to do some shopping in Ubud, especially Arts & Crafts before your guide meets you and takes you to the beach at Sanur. Before checking in you will enjoy Padang Food which is based on the cuisine of the Minangkabau people of West Sumatra. It is among the most popular foods in Southeast Asia. After lunch you check into your deluxe hotel on the beach where you have some time to relax. In the late afternoon you will be taken to one of Bali’s most impressive temples, Uluwatu which is majestically perched on the edge of a steep cliff. As the sun sets you will be treated to a dramatic kecak dance performance which involves male performers chanting in unison. After the performance you will be taken to Jimbaran Beach for the ultimate in beach barbecues featuring prawns, grilled fish, squid, clams and other shellfish accompanied by rice, vegetables and sambal, a spicy Indonesian Sauce. You will then be returned to Sanur.

Day 9: Beach Time and a Moveable Feast
After breakfast you have most of the day to enjoy the ocean and the beach. When the sun begins to set, you head to a stylish rooftop bar on a Vintage Vespa to start the evening with cocktail and magnificent views. After the sun has dipped into the ocean and while the surfers are catching the last waves you will continue to a chic eatery that combines contemporary international and traditional Indonesian themes. A healthy starter platter is served while you sit on a terrace on one of the busiest streets of Seminyak indulge in a bit of people watching ( think South Beach) as local residents and tourists flock to the diverse dining venues in the area. Take a short drive to the next stop on this culinary crawl, arriving at a wooden, Javanese Joglo house for the main course. Tuck in to a dinner of Nasi Campur, tapas-style Indonesian dishes served around a rice pyramid. Then it is time for dessert. Step into a stylish lounge set amid the rice paddies where a delicious sweet dessert is served. Soak up the views of the illuminated rice fields while satisfying your sweet tooth. Your guide can take you back to the hotel or, since you can sleep late tomorrow you may want to join the other night owls?
