Day 1: USA-Colombia
Today you board an aircraft for a flight to Cartagena the fortress town which was used to send treasures back to the old world from the new world. Upon arrival you are transferred to your elegant hotel located close to shops, restaurants and other attractions
Day 2: A Walking Tour through Cartagena
Today your guide will take you on a walking tour of this charming Colonial Caribbean town. Start in Bolivar Park by large trees and four fountains and the obligatory Bolivar statue. Around the square is the gold museum offering archeological objects dating back to the pre-Hispanic period. You will also visit the Inquisition Palace which is noted for its large Baroque-style door. The inquisition held its meetings here and it was also the prison and torture chambers of presumed heretics. Finish your tour at the Museum of the city’s fortifications followed by lunch at a local restaurant. You have free time to explore the city ramparts and its quaint shops. In the evening a guide will escort you to La Vitrola one of the finest restaurants in the entire walled city. It offers Cuban style inside a house typical of Cartagena. In addition to its food it is also noted for its antique chandeliers, trunks and paintings emblematic of the heritage of Cartagena de Indias Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 3: A Private Cruise to Rosario Island
In the morning you will be picked up and taken to the marina where a private yacht will be waiting to take you to one of the pristine islands of the Archipelago del Rosario where you can swim, snorkel and just relax, A lobster lunch will be served and in the late afternoon you return to Cartagena where the evening is open Breakfast and Lunch
Day 4: A Literary Feast
Cartagena was home to Gabriel Garcia Marquez known locally as “Gabo”. This Nobel prize winning author and screenwriter created works like ‘One hundred years’ of Solitude’ and ’Love in the time of Cholera’ took time to eat and today you will follow in his footsteps and share his discoveries. During this privately guided walking tour you will visit nine favorite places of this beloved writer and discover the mestizo history behind the traditional cuisine of the Colombian Caribbean. In doing so you will experience the middle of this 500 year old city and meet the ‘guardians’ who preserve its gastronomic treasure and take home their stories and recipes. Breakfast and Lunch
Day 5: Embracing the Boss nova
This is your last day in Cartagena and we have left it open since we know that there is still a lot you want to see and buy. In the evening you will be picked up and taken to Club de Pesca which is one of the most traditional in the city because of its location on Cartagena Bay. Casual elegance is the best term as you enjoy the freshest seafood (beef and poultry are available) and enjoy the ocean breeze and the live music. If you have ever yearned to dance the boss nova and watch the waves rolling up to a Caribbean Beach, tonight is your night Breakfast and Dinner
Day 6: Barranquilla and Tayrona National Park
This morning you will be met by your guide who will be taking you to Tayrona National Park located on the Caribbean Sea. Your first stop will be the city of Barranquilla where you have lunch. You will tour the historic El Prado district with its American and European-style architecture. You will then visit the port which is located on the river a few kilometers away from the sea. You then drive to Tayrona National Park and your Eco-friendly hotel located on Canaveral beach. Each chalet is individual with balconies and thatched roofs. Take a swim before enjoying a candlelight dinner Breakfast Lunch and Dinner
Day 7: The Sea of the Seven Waves
After breakfast your guide will pick you up and take you to the entrance into Tayrona National Park as a place called Palangana. You continue along a winding road through the scenic tropical forest before opening out on to what is known as the Sea of the Seven Waves, a natural viewpoint from which you can enjoy the beautiful scenery. Descend to the Playa de Neguanje to the Bay of Gairaca and board a local boat where the fishermen will sail around the cove to Playa Cristal. This beach is noted for its beauty and is the ideal place to enjoy the water, the sun and the opportunity to paddle between the coral reefs. In the late afternoon return to your resort Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 8: Return to USA
You will be transferred to the airport for the return flight to the USA Breakfast
