Day 1: Depart USA
In the evening you board your aircraft bound for Buenos Aires and the start of your elegant adventure on roads less traveled.
Day 2: Welcome to Buenos Aires
Upon arrival you are met and taken to your hotel to check-in and rest. In the afternoon you will be picked up for a leisurely walking tour of the area. Buenos Aires is a beautiful, cosmopolitan and seductive city stretching along the banks of the River Plate. Portenos, the name given to residents of Buenos Aires are known to have an elaborate and rich cultural identity. The lifestyle and architecture is markedly European. After an enlightening walk the evening is left open.
Day 3: Monuments and Neighborhoods
Today you will have a full day covering the major monuments and plazas that give the city its “Parisian” feel including Casa Rosada where Juan and Eva Peron lived. Just like Paris, the city os made up of a variety of neighbor hoods from the Italian area of La Boca to the ultra-elegance of Recoleta. In the evening you enjoy an excellent dinner with wine followed by a Tango presentation with a variety of dancers.

Day 4: Salta and the Lerma Valley
In the morning you will be transferred to the domestic airport for a two hour flight to Salta in the northwest of the country. Upon arrival you will be met by your guide who will be taking you on your adventure. The roads you will be driving over the days ahead offer some of the most intriguing scenery in the Northwest; the rocks are a spectacular variety of colors and giant cacti grow in the higher, drier parts. Leaving Salta you will pass fields planted with sugarcane, tobacco, beans and cotton before arriving at the estancia where you will overnight. After lunch you have the option to ride Peruvian Paso horses, visit the caiman reserve or hop on a bike and explore the many trials. Afternoon tea is offered as well as dinner hosted by a member of the family.

Day 5: Humahuaca and Purmamarca
After a delightful breakfast you depart the estancia and rive along Route 9 through the Humahuaca Gorge stopping to visit Uquia, Tilcara fortress, Maimara and other villages in the gorge. The gorge ends almost at the border with Bolivia and it is the most Andean territory in Argentina. Stop along the way for a country lunch. In the afternoon arrive at your accommodations in Purmamarca at the foot of the Seven Colors Mountain. You enjoy dinner before turning in.

Day 6: The Road to San Antonio de Los Cobres
Today will be an exceptionally interesting day as you drive across the Andes through dry salt lakes, volcanoes and the infinity of the Puna Plateau. You have the chance to do some trekking with Llamas on the salt flats and enjoy a picnic. Visit the Salinas Grandes and continue on an unpaved road to the dusty mining town of San Antonio de los Cobres which is situated 7,800 feet higher than Salta. It is an example of a typical highland settlement, with adobe houses and you will notice a drop in temperature after sundown.

Day 7: Cachi and Molinos
After breakfast you will drive south towards the Calchaqui Valley stopping in Payogasta for lunch. Continue to Cachi noted for its Indian ruins and for its 17th Century Spanish colonial church located next to the main plaza. After Cachi you head south traversing alluring landscapes and cactus-dotted scrubland to the adobe village of Molinos where you overnight. Your hotel was built in the 18th Century and was the home of the last governor of the Salta region appointed by a Spanish King. Dinner is at the hotel.

Day 8: Colome Winery and arrival in Cafayate
Route 40 is one of the longest in the world and the stretch you will drive today goes between Molinos and Cafayate. You will pass by desert scenery, small ranches and huge colorful mountains. You will stop at Bodega Colome which is the highest operating vineyard in the world. It is owned by the Hess family with wineries in the United States, South Africa and Argentina. You will visit the James Turrell Museum. And enjoy lunch with a variety of wines. As the afternoon sun begins to dip you will take advantage of the light to explore Conchas Gorge, a deep ravine created 50 million years ago in an age when the region was dominated by a humid and warm climate and populated by animals such as turtles and crocodiles. After your visit you arrive in Cafayate and your ultra-elegant resort.

Day 9: Vineyards of Cafayate
Today will primarily be devoted to wine as you visit two different wineries to learn their approach to wine making. Your first will be to Esteco Winery where you will engage in a variety of wine-related activities including blending your own wine. You will then visit Piatelli winery where you have lunch along with a variety of wines. Return to your resort in the afternoon to visit the spa or take a horse ride around the grounds.

Day 10: Salta and Buenos Aires
After breakfast you will drive through ‘Quebrada de Las Conchas’ gorge with its intense red color. Arriving in Salta you have lunch and a tour of the city before flying back to Buenos Aires. You are met and transferred to your hotel where the evening is at leisure.

Day 11: Day at leisure and departure
You have most of the day open to do some additional sightseeing or shopping. In the late afternoon you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight home.
