Day 3: The Imperial and Contemporary City
Marrakesh is divided into two sections, the Medina covers historic, Arab Marrakesh while Gueliz is the contemporary “French” section with wide boulevards etc. Of most interest is the Medina which is where your guide will start. The first thing you will notice is that the buildings are blushed in hues of the red earth, the horse-drawn carriages clip along while donkeys pulling carts pass gardens fragrant with roses and honeysuckle. You’ll see the ancient Bahia Palace from the days of the harem, the Royal Saadian Tombs and the Koutoubia Mosque and Minaret. The highlight of the day will be the main square, Djamaa El Fna where Berber acrobats, fortune tellers, storyteller and mischievous monkeys perfume. In the evening you will be taken to Gueliz for a meal with a French touch.
Breakfast and Dinner
Day 4: Your Personal Marrakesh
You have the day to explore Marrakesh at your own place. Take advantage of the location of your Riad to wander the souks in the medina looking for handicrafts and antiques. In the evening your guide will take you into the delight that is Djamaa El-Fna in the evening. You will dine on a variety of quality street food and enjoy all the performance artists. You might even join in an impromptu dance but stay away from the sword-swallowers!

Check into your Riad which overlooks the ocean.

The town has attracted some diverse and interesting characters. Orson Welles used the town as the location for his movie “Othello”. In fact there is a square named after him.
