The Best of Tangier & Northern Morocco

Highlights:

The Northern part of Morocco does not get nearly the amount of tourist attention as compared to other areas of Morocco; this is a disservice both to travelers and the Northern Moroccan communities.

A stay in Fez is followed by a visit to Chefchaouen, and enhanced by a mountain hike. Then it is off to Tangier, that city of international intrigue yet a short ferry ride from Spain. It compares favorably with Marseilles, Naples and, perhaps, Hamburg.

We will show it all to you and finish up in the coastal resort of Asilah for a relaxing day before returning home. This would be ideal for two or three adventurous couples.

Explore: TANGIER & NORTHERN MOROCCO

Customizable Itinerary - 10 Days (from $6,414 / person)
Day 1: USA-Morocco

This evening you will head to the airport for an overnight flight to the mystic land of Morocco.

Day 2: Welcome to Casablanca

You arrive in Casablanca in the morning and are met by one of our drivers who will take you to your oceanfront hotel where you have the rest of the day to relax, swim in the ocean, and get a massage at the spa. In the evening enjoy dinner with an ocean view.

Day 3: Volubilis and Meknes

Today you will be traveling to Fes making a couple of interesting stops along the way. Your first stop will be the ancient roman ruins of Volubilis. Excavated by the French in 1915, the extensive ruins, which date to the 3rd Century AD are spread out over a hillside and make an impressive display. You will stop for lunch and then proceed to the Imperial City of Meknes known as the Moroccan “Versailles”. It was founded in the 17th Century by King Moulay Ismail. The city is known for its walls stretching for 25 miles around the town. After a tour you continue to your destination, the city of Fes and your elegant contemporary Riad.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4: The Diverse Contributions of Fes

The City of Fes has made enormous cultural and commercial contributions to Morocco. Founded in the 9th Century, it is home to the oldest university in the world. The Medina is home to madrasas, fondouks, palaces, residences and mosques many still functioning today. But it is also a commercial hub with artisan workshops as active today as 100 years ago including metal and leather working ( one of the iconic sights of Fes are the multi-colored vats of dye used to treat the leather), ceramics, silk, tapestries and sculpting. Your guide will open up both worlds to you.
Breakfast and Lunch

Day 5: Chefchaouen, the Blue City

Today your guide will be taken to the relatively unknown town of Chefchaouen. If it was known it was by pack-packers who came for access to Rif or cannabis. Today it has been discovered by a more mature audience (or an older version of the backpackers) who come for the streets and walls painted blue and the roofs of red. This is a place to relax and wander.
Breakfast

Day 6: Morning Hills and drive to Tangier

In the morning your guide will take you into the hills for a refreshing hike. It also gives you the chance to see the “Blue City” from the surrounding hills. You then proceed northwest to the Port city of Tangier stopping for lunch at Tetouan on the way. Arrive in Tangier and your French-owned boutique hotel situated at the top of the Kasbah with views across to Spain and the Rock of Gibraltar. The hotel offers a ‘cocktail hour’ after which you can walk to a nearby restaurant (commonly owned) for fresh fish tagine and other delicacies.
