Day 1: Depart USA
You board your aircraft for the overnight flight to Spain.
Day 2: Arrival in Spain
You will arrive in Barcelona and will be met by one of our drivers who will take you to your hotel which is located in the Gothic quarter. There are lots of places to explore and places to dine within walking distance of the hotel.
Day 3: Highlights of Barcelona
Today you will explore the key sights of the city starting with a drive up Montjuic Hill the site of the 1992 Olympic Games. You will enjoy views of the city from the hill and a chance to visit the Catalunya National Art Museum. Head back down to the city and admire the modernist structures of Plaza Espana and then view Gaudi buildings, La Pedrera and Casa Batllo as you drive along Passeig de Gracia. You will get fast access to La Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s masterpiece where you have the chance to walk around. You will make your way back to the Gothic Quarter where you visit the Jewish Quarter and the 2,000 year old Roman temple besides the Gothic Cathedral. After your tour the afternoon is free. In the evening enjoy a guided Tapas crawl through some of the city’s trendiest areas.

Day 4: Dali and the Costa Brava
You will leave the city and head out to the coast. Your focus today will be Salvador Dali, his life and his work. Your first stop will be the town of Figueres where Dali was born in 1904. You will see the house where he was born and then you will visit the Dali-Theatre-Museum which he deigned. Inside you will view many of his works. After your visit you drive to the Cadaques a picturesque Costa Brava village that was featured in many of Dali’s early works. You have time for have lunch and then you travel to Port Lligat a coastal village where Dali built a private retreat, now converted into a museum. You will then drive to your quaint hotel located on the coast overlooking a well-known lighthouse. Enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Day 5: Coves and Beaches
Your hotel is surrounded by quiet coves with sandy beaches tempting you to visit with a good book or, if you are feeling more active, walking from cove to cove. Return to the hotel to watch the sun set and then enjoy another superb meal at the restaurant.

Day 6: Cava and Can Bonastre
Today you leave the city and head first to the Codorniu Cellars, makers of Cava the sparkling wine of Spain. You will get a tour of the vineyards to see the grapes then a visit to the cellars where the “sparkling” process takes place. Following the tour you will enjoy a pairing of four distinct chesses matched with Cava which you will find illuminating. After your visit you drive to another wine estate known for both its red and white wines. You have a chance to try out the spa before dinner paired with wines from the estate.

Day 7: A Day in the Vineyards
You have the option of spending a good part of the day in the vineyards and learning the process of how each grape (or blend of grapes) creates a unique wine. You can also add in a spa treatment to round out the day.

Day 8: Tarragona and Valencia
You leave the vineyard and head to the city of Valencia, often associated with Oranges. First, however you stop in Tarragona to view its past as a major Roman city dating back to the 4th Century BC. You will see the Amphitheatre where gladiators would battle and the track where the chariots used to race. You then continue to the city of Valencia often associated with oranges. Valencia is also the home of Paella Valenciana and we highly recommend trying some this evening.

Day 9: City of Arts & Sciences
Today you will spend a good part of the day at the complex known as the City of Arts & sciences. In essence it is a permanent world’s fair with futuristic architecture and focused on a building dedicated to Art, one to science and one to the ocean. The art building has rotating exhibits many in conjunction with Reina Sofia Gallery in Madrid. Both it and the Science building offer lectures and hands on experiences for all ages. After an extensive visit you are transferred to the lake in L’Albufera Park where you will take a boat ride around the lake. Back at the hotel, enjoy the chef’s tasting menu.

Day 10: Flight to Malaga
In the morning you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Malaga. Upon arrival you will be met and taken to your hotel in the Costa Del Sol. Once you have checked in you can visit the hotel’s beach for some relaxation.
Day 11: Day at Leisure
You have the full day to use the facilities offered at the resort or just relax and enjoy the Mediterranean sun.

Day 12: Return to USA
In the morning you will be transferred to the airport to begin the journey back to the USA where you arrive back the same afternoon.
