Day 1: USA-Portugal
An overnight flight this evening will bring you to Portugal’s capital, Lisbon.
Day 2: Welcome to Lisbon
Upon arrival your will be met by one of our guides who will take you to your hotel. You have rest of the day to relax combined with a dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: A Day through Lisbon’s Hidden Treasures
In the morning you will meet your guide for an intimate tour of some of the most traditional places of Lisbon and the chance to taste some of the food and drink specialties of the city. Leave your hotel and board the funicular Gloria to get to the Summit of Bairro Alto. Enjoy the views of the city. Stop for a visit to a coffee shop made from beans from Portugal’s former colonies. Take a stroll through Bairro Alto and the Chiado neighborhoods. Pass by the historical “A Brasileira” café and then visit “Casa Havanesa” offering the finest Cuban cigars. Spend a little time at “Livraria Bertrand”, the city’s oldest bookstore and stop in at “Luvaria Ulisses” which is possibly the smallest glove shop in the world. Enter Rossio Square and enjoy a sherry liqueur at “Café Nicola”. Stop at Manteigaria Silve and try their various Portuguese food items including salted codfish and “pastel de Nata” (custard tartlets).

Day 4: A Taste of Lisbon
Today you will enjoy two dining experiences combined with unique venues. After a morning at leisure you are picked up at your hotel and taken to the banks of the Tagus River where you board a yacht for a relaxing cruise on the river while you enjoy lunch. You will get a nautical perspective of the city. In the evening you will be taken to an excellent restaurant which also offers outstanding Fado, that poignant music unique to Portugal.

Day 5: Porto and the Douro Valley
After breakfast you will be transferred to the colorful Lisbon train station where 1st class seats will be reserved for a trip to Porto, Portugal’s second city and home to its namesake fortified wine. Upon arrival you will have lunch and then visit the wine “lodges” where the fortified wine is stored in barrels for extended period’s ranging from 10 to 50 years. After your tour you follow the Douro River inland to the Douro Valley where the grapes are grown to form the basis of Port. Upon arrival you have a chance to relax and then have dinner looking over the Douro River below.

Day 6: The Wine Villages of the Douro Valley
While there are a multitude of villages in the area, only six are authorized to be categorized as wine villages. This is primarily because of the vineyards that surround the villages and their interest in inviting guests to visit. During your day your guide will take you to six villages, Favaios, Proverserde, Barcos, Trevoes, Salzedas and Ucanim. The order may vary depending on availability but you will visit at last one vineyard in each village and have a chance to taste their vintages. In one of the villages you will also have lunch.

Day 7: A leisurely cruise through the Douro Valley
After some time to relax by the pool, you are transferred to Pinhao where you board a boat for a scenic cruise through the Douro Valley. Enjoy the view of the vines stretching up on each side of the river. Take in the views while you enjoy lunch with wine. Return to the dock where you will be taken to the hotel to pick up your luggage and transfer to Porto.

Day 8: Return to USA
In the morning, one of our drivers will deliver you to Porto airport where you take a flight to connect back to the USA.
