Day 1: USA-Chile
In the evening you travel to the airport for an overnight flight to Santiago the capital of Chile.
Day 2: Welcome to Santiago
You arrive in Santiago and are met by one of our drivers who will take you to your boutique hotel where the rest of the day is at leisure. Santiago reminds many people of California since it has mountains surrounding the city and the Pacific Ocean is a short drive. It also has extensive vineyards within driving distance. Explore the neighborhood and pick out a likely choice for dinner.
Day 3: Highlights of Santiago
Today, your guide is going to give you an overview of the city from its historical sites to its diverse neighborhoods. Start on the main street, Alameda Bernardo O’Higgins who led the independence movement from Spain. Plaza de Armas dates back to Spanish times and is anchored by the Metropolitan Cathedral. You will visit museums focused on pre-Columbian artifacts and artworks while the Bellas Artes Museum offers more contemporary works. You will have lunch at Restaurant Giratorio which offers dramatic views of the mountains and even all the way to the sea. Your afternoon starts with a visit to La Chascona, former home of Nobel Laureate Pablo Neruda. You visit the cultural and artistic neighborhood of Bellavista before taking a cable car to the top of San Cristobal Hill. Your final visit will be to the Providencia neighborhood with its top restaurants, elegant shops and modern high-rise buildings.

Day 4: Journey to Chiloe
In the morning you are transferred to the airport for a flight to Chiloe which is the second largest island in South America. Situated south of Puerto Montt it is separated from the mainland by the Chacao Channel. Upon arrival you are met by a guide who will take you to the lodge where lunch is ready. After lunch you may want to explore using one of the many hiking trails. In the evening enjoy cocktails as you learn about the experiences available tomorrow.

Day 5: Chiloe Encounters
We recommend that you select one of the scenic adventures for your first activity. Chiloe is an archipelago made up of many islands. Your guide will show you wonderfully structured old churches; colorful markets full of sea and agricultural produce knitted goods, woven baskets, ornaments and thick pure wool blankets. In part because of its physical isolation from the rest of Chile, Chiloe has a unique architecture and local culture. It has a rich folklore with may mythological animals and spirits which your guide will explain to you.

Day 6: A Variety of Options
Over cocktails the previous evening, your guides will have explained the various options available to you. You might choose one of the guided hikes from moderate to active, the same applies to mountain biking. You can also choose to tour parts of the area on horseback. Another option is to board the lodge’s custom wooden boat to enjoy cruising the coast and visiting selected villages. The choice is yours including staying at the lodge and relaxing.

Day 7: Chiloe to Puerto Varas
In the morning your driver will take you on a scenic drive to Puerto Varas gateway to the Lake District and Chilean Patagonia. You will arrive at your lodge on the shore of Lake Llanquihue where the rest of the day is at leisure.

Days 8 & 9: A Wealth of Activities
During these two days you can choose to kayak on the lake, go fishing on the lake or do some rafting in nearby rivers. You can also choose to go mountain biking, hiking or bird watching. Closer to your lodge you can enjoy the indoor lap pool or enjoy a treatment at the spa. You can, of course, combine activities each day.

Day 10: Puerto Varas to Pucon
Today you drive to Pucon to a spectacular resort located in a park and offering views of the Villarrica Volcano in the distance. In the afternoon try a guided hike in the nearby national park. The resort has its own farm so you know the ingredients (including cheese) are locally-produced. Enjoy a soak in one of the hot tubs before dinner. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Days 11 & 12: An activity for all seasons
There are a number of knowledgeable guides who will take you on a variety of excursions. In the winter season it could be skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing or snowmobiling. In the warner months fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking and trekking are available (for an addional charge you can view the caldera of the volcano by helicopter). We highly recommend taking a guided kayak excursion on Lake Tinquilco, a trek in the forest and a special alfresco picnic.

Day 13: Pucon to Santiago
After breakfast and a chance for one last hike or spa treatment, you are transferred to the airport for the flight to Santiago. Her you connect to your overnight flight back to the USA.
