Highlights:
Combine Santiago’s two largest cities with its most exotic province and you have an excellent adventure, combining wine, cable cars, iconic statues and welcoming people. Santiago is the nation’s capital and is surrounded by mountains on three sides. A very modern city, it offers high fashion, chic restaurants but also tranquil park settings.
Valparaiso has more of a “reputation” based on its status as a port city both historically and all the way to today. Past travelers describe it in terms of west coast US cities like Seattle or San Francisco but it has an atmosphere all its own. Combine these cities with a stay in Polynesia, situated in the Pacific but still part of Chile much like Hawaii in relation to the mainland USA.

Day 5: Valparaiso and Vina del Mar
In the morning your guide will share with you the various areas that make up this city. Valparaiso is not a Spanish city; it is a city built by the many immigrants who came from various parts of Europe. The first soccer team was created by the English, the first parochial school by the French and the first private secular schools by Scots and Germans. This melting pot of cultures combined with the unique architecture and enhanced by its bohemian and somewhat risqué past makes Valparaiso Chile’s “Cultural Capital”. The city, built on 43 hills sloping down to the sea has a natural beauty reminiscent of many harbor cities. This natural beauty is enhanced by the colorful houses that cling to the hills offering dramatic vistas from either the bottom or the top of the hills. At the end of the tour you will be transferred to an elegant enclave a little bit up the coast, Vina del Mar. Here you will find formal gardens, beachside estates and genteel living. You will also find lunch. After a leisurely lunch you return to Valparaiso.
Breakfast and Lunch
Day 6: Valparaiso to Rapa Nui
You will be picked up early and transferred to the airport for the flight to Rapa Nui which is also known as Easter Island. Check in time is less since, even though it is five hours over water it is still considered to be a domestic flight. You will be flying to the most remote inhabited island in the world. Santiago is the closest destination to the east with Tahiti the closest to the west. When you arrive it will be mid-morning given the time change and you will be met and taken to the resort which is located on a hill in the centre of the island offering sea views in many directions. You can check in and then have lunch. You might want to take a nap by the pool.

Day 7: Silent Symbols of Easter Island
When people think of Easter Island, they think of those large heads facing out to sea. In actuality, many of them have full torsos but have sunk in the sand overtime. Nobody knows their origin or the people who created them prior to the arrival of the Polynesians. In addition to viewing the Moais and quarry from which they were dug, you have numerous other explorations to select from. You can explore on foot, on bicycle or in 4WD vehicles. The previous evening, over cocktails, one of the guides will have gone over the options for today and you can choose from one or two half day programs or a full day exploration, in which case an outdoor picnic lunch would be served.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 8: Easter Island from the Sea
While all activities are included, participation is optional, we do encourage you to sign up for at least a half day snorkeling trip. The lodge provides all the equipment. The water surrounding the island is the most transparent in the world so the coral reefs and the fish are a lot more vivid. Visibility can extend over 160 feet and the water temperature is 64 degrees year round so conditions are deal. If snorkeling is not for you, you can go out and fish for tuna the way the islanders do although yours would be catch and release. You can also sail to nearby islands and have the unique perspective of the main island as the first inhabitants from Oceania saw it.
