Day 1: USA-Brazil
You board an aircraft for an overnight flight that will take you back in time to the colonial town of Salvador and the beginning of your adventure through Brazil’s colonial past.
Day 2: Arrival in Salvador
You arrive in Salvador de Bahia and are met by one of our guides and taken tour hotel that was built as a Carmelite convent in 1586. It is located in San Antonio close to the historic Pelourinho district. After freshening up you might explore the historic neighborhood around you. In the evening you dine in the hotel’s atmospheric restaurant.

Day 3: The Colonial and Cultural Heritage of Salvador
Today you will discover the essential sights of Salvador with your private guide. You will start with a trip to the water and the bays which define this city passing through elegant avenues and bustling tree- lined streets you will find yourself back in the area of your hotel. Pelourinho is a UNESCO world heritage site and the largest complex of colonial architecture in South America. Leaving the car behind, you walk through the narrow streets lined with pastel-colored buildings. You stop to visit the church of Sao Francisco with its gold-leafed Baroque interior and finishing at Pelourinho Square, the heart of the old town. This evening you will attend a performance of the Bahia Afro Ballet at the Miguel Santana Theatre. You will see the sacred dances of the Candomble and other songs and customs with their roots in African culture. After the performance you will have dinner in a 17th Century building housing what is considered to be the best restaurant in Salvador.

Day 4: Salvador to Paraty
In the morning you will be transferred to the airport for a flight to Rio de Janeiro where one of our drivers will be waiting to take you to the quaint town of Paraty, considered to be one of the best examples of colonial architecture. Upon arrival, you check in to your picturesque hotel. Explore the area before dining at the hotel.

Day 5: A Private tour of Paraty
Paraty is a small town backed by mountains on Brazil's Costa Verde, between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Its Portuguese colonial center has cobbled streets and 17th- and 18th-century buildings dating to its time as a port, during the Brazilian Gold Rush. Among its architectural landmarks is the waterfront Capela de Santa Rita, a whitewashed church built in 1722. This morning, your guide will take you on a private tour of the town. The afternoon is left open for you to explore on your own.

Day 6: Sailing and Snorkeling the Bay of Paraty
The Bay of Paraty is dotted with islands ideal for swimming or snorkeling. This morning you will board a schooner that will cruise the bay and make stops to allow swimming or snorkeling. Enjoy lunch on board before returning to the port of Paraty.

Day 7: Paraty to Ouro Preto
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport in Sao Paulo where you board a flight to Belo Horizonte. Upon arrival you will be met by a driver who will take you to Ouro Preto and your hotel which is within walking distance of the main square in town. The concierge can suggest some good restaurants close to the hotel.

Day 8: A Day in Ouro Preto
In the morning you will be met by your guide who will take you on a full day walking tour of this charming city. Ouro Preto is a colonial town in the Serra do Espinhaço Mountains of eastern Brazil. It’s known for its baroque architecture, including bridges, fountains and squares, and it’s steep, winding cobbled streets. Central Tiradentes Square is named after the martyr for Brazilian independence. There are numerous churches and chapels all over town, including the 18th-century St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Day 9: The Drive to Tiradentes
You have time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast before your driver arrives to take you to the last stop in your journey. The town of Tiradentes looks more like an English country town instead of a Portuguese colonial tow, Your hotel, in fact is owned by an Englishman and his wife who over personalized service along with creature comforts.

Day 10: Enjoying the Tranquility of Tiradentes
On weekends, the town gets very crowded as visitors come to enjoy the classic buildings, boutiques and antique shops. We will work the itinerary to make sure that is not the case. For the other four days you can enjoy all the town has to offer but without the crowds. For a town its size it is also blessed with a wide variety of restaurants for both lunch and dinner. In between, a hike in the nearby hills can help the appetite. Your host can recommend his special places for dining.

Day 11: Return to USA
In the early afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport at Belo Horizonte where you catch a flight to either Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro where you connect with a US bound overnight flight.
