Day 1: USA-Rio de Janeiro
Board your aircraft for the overnight flight to Rio de Janeiro.
Day 2: Arrival in Rio
You arrive in the morning and are met by your driver who will take you to your hotel located on Ipanema Beach. You have the rest of the day to relax either by the pool or on the beach.
Day 3: Sugarloaf by Day, Samba by Night
Enjoy a buffet breakfast at the hotel and then meet your guide for a personalized visit to Sugarloaf an iconic symbol of the city. Take two connecting cable cars to the 1,200 foot summit and get 360 degree views Botafogo and Copacabana beaches, Corcovado and Downtown Rio. The afternoon is left open for some beach time. In the evening you will be taken to Leblon, an area of the city where you have dinner and a fast-paced show focused around the dance and rhythm of Rio particularly, the Samba which was invented here.

Day 4: The View from Corcovado
Your guide will be waiting in the lobby to take you to one of the world’s most recognizable attractions. Located 7,000 feet atop Corcovado Hill, the Statue of Christ the Redeemer was elected as one of the seven wonders pf the modern world. You will take a scenic drive around the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon arriving at the base of the hill where you board a train which will take you through one of the few rain forests in the middle of a major city. Upon reaching the top you will look up at the statue in awe and then the view all around you in wonderment.

Day 5: From Rio to Iguassu Falls
You ae transferred to the airport for the flight to Iguassu Falls which is shared with Paraguay and Argentina. Those two countries identify it in Spanish as Iguazu Falls but in Portuguese-speaking Brazil it is Iguassu Falls. You will be staying at a former colonial mansion located in Iguassu National Park. Once you have checked in. take a brief stroll to the lookout points and get your first sight (and sound) of these impressive forces of nature. Enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Day 6: Two sides of the falls
After breakfast you meet your guide for a walk through the rain forest to the trail that descends into the canyon offering panoramic views of the more than 240 individual falls. You then take a glass elevator up the face of the cliff for even more spectacular views. Return to the hotel for a chance to have lunch. In the afternoon your guide will take you across the Tancredo Neves Bridge to the Argentinean side. Here you take a small train through the park before alighting at a walking trail with your guide leading the way. You take the upper walkways which allow you to get up close to the falls and the rainforest that surrounds them. You will then step out on a suspended platform that hangs over the “Devil’s Throat” the largest fall of them all. Cross the bridge back to the Brazilian side and your hotel where another excellent dinner awaits.

Day 7: Iguassu to Bahia
Today you fly from Iguassu to the state of Bahia and its African-influenced city, Salvador. Upon arrival you are met and taken to your 1930’s era hotel based on New York’s Flatiron Building. The hotel was THE place to be from the ‘30’s to the early ‘60’s and has now been totally refurbished to bring it into the 21st Century. It offers spectacular coastal views from the infinity pool on the roof.

Day 8: Highlights of Salvador
Along with your guide, you will explore the essential sights of Salvador. You start with a trip to the water and the bays which define this city before passing through elegant avenues and bustling tree-lined streets. Head to the upper part of the city to the area known as Pelourinho, a UNESCO world heritage site and the largest complex of colonial architecture in South America. Walk through the narrow streets lined with pastel-colored buildings. Finish at Pelourinho Square the heart of the old town. In the evening join your host for an evening in Rio Vermelho, a bohemian neighborhood known for its street food and friendly bars. Breakfast and Dinner
Day 9: Cruising the offshore islands
This morning you will be met at the hotel and taken to the marina where you will board a schooner for a cruise to some of the islands not too far from the shore. Your first stop could be Monk’s Island, virtually uninhabited and home to some of the best beaches on the bay. You have some free time to swim, snorkel or lie in the sun. You then continue to Itaparica Island where you have lunch at a local restaurant. You can visit the charming colonial town on the island or stay by the beach. Return to the boat and set sail for port with the setting sun flooding the city with its glow.

Day 10: Cachoeira and the Sisterhood of Boa Morte
After breakfast you will meet your guide and head out of the city through some of the richest farmland in Brazil. You will have the opportunity to visit an experimental Cacao plantation and have lunch in Cachoeira, a charming colonial town set on the banks of the Paraguassu River. After lunch, take a walking tour of the town with its many wooden sculpture ateliers, bustling market and a chance to visit the Sisterhood of the Boa Morte, a convent that traces its origins back to the time of slavery. Return to the city for one final night in Salvador.

Day 11: Departure from Brazil
You have the morning to enjoy the pool, spa or beach or do some last minute shopping. In the afternoon you will be transferred to the airport to begin your journey back to the USA.
