Strasbourg is the cultural capital of Alsace. Alsace lies between the Vosges Mountains and the Rhine River with Switzerland to the south, Germany to the north and east and the rest of France to the west. The buildings and the cuisine may be more Germanic e.g. Choucroute Garnie, but the love of wine is pure French. Day 4: The Best of the Alsace Wine Route
The wine growing areas of Alsace follow a route between Strasbourg and Colmar stretching for about 100 miles. The route meanders through picturesque vineyards and fairy tale villages of cobbled streets, timber-framed houses and medieval church towers. While you will certainly stop and sample a variety of vineyards, the journey will be just as rewarding for those less interested in wine. Lunch will be in a quaint restaurant offering vineyards and mountain views. You will then return to Strasbourg where there are fine restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

Day 6: The Great Wines of Burgundy
Your guide will be waiting to take you on a route which is hallowed ground for those even remotely interested in wine. While the Cote des Nuits has some up and coming vineyards that we can visit, based on interest and prior arrangements we can arrange special visits to some of the great names such as Corton, Romanee-Conti, La Tache, Clos De Vougeot and Chambertin (along with Gevrey-Chambertin and Batard-Chambertin). Unlike Bordeaux with its larger Chateau estates, labels in Burgundy can come from vineyards of less than five acres so their limited production adds to their allure and price.
