Day 1: Depart USA
You board your aircraft for the overnight flight to the “Paris of the South”, Buenos Aires, home of the Tango, resting place of Evita, and capital of Argentina.
Day 2: Welcome to Buenos Aires
Upon arrival you are met by your guide and escorted to your car which will take you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax or stroll through the interesting neighborhood. We will be happy to make dinner recommendations.
Day 3: The Magnificent Plazas and Intimate Neighborhoods of Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires is an elegant and cosmopolitan city with European flavor and a friendly atmosphere. You will get to see quite a bit of it today accompanied by your personal guide. You will start with the monumental highlights like the main square, Plaza de Mayo with its neo-classical Cathedral, colonial town hall and the Presidential Palace, the “Casa Rosada” which Juan and Eva Peron once inhabited. You then continue to the old neighborhood of San Telmo with its narrow cobblestone streets; La Boca with is multicolor tin houses, the elegant Barrio Norte neighborhood, and Palermo with its wonderful parks and gardens, monuments and magnificent mansions. After a leisurely lunch you have the rest of the afternoon fee for some shopping or a visit to one of the many art galleries. In the evening your guide will be waiting to take you back to San Telmo where you have dinner. After dinner you cross the cobblestone street into the most authentic tango venue in Buenos Aires. Here you will enjoy VIP seating for an authentic Tango performance, the best in the city.

Day 4: San Carlos de Bariloche
After breakfast you are transferred to the airport for a flight to San Carlos de Bariloche which is located in the heart of the Nahuel Huapi National Park. Founded eighty years ago, the town has an Alpine flavor which is appropriate given its fame as a ski resort during the Argentine winter. In the spring, summer and fall it focuses on the outdoor life built around the lake and the mountains. Upon arrival you are transferred to your legendary hotel where a room overlooking the Lake has been reserved.

Day 5: Exploring Mount Llao Llao
This morning you meet your skilled guide in the lobby. Your destination today is one of the most photographed areas in Argentina offering views of stunning peaks and crystalline lakes. You will be hiking up Mount Llao Llao but the pace is leisurely with many stops along the way. Your hike will be well worth it as you gaze down on the panorama below before returning to the hotel.

Day 6: A Private Lake Cruise and Victoria Island Picnic
Today you board a private boat for a sail on one of the most beautiful lakes in Patagonia and surrounded by mountains and woods. You will disembark with your guide on Victoria Island where you enjoy a beautifully presented picnic lunch served on a secluded beach. After lunch your guide will take you on a walk through the Arrayanes Forest and teach you about the unique history of the island and the properties of various trees and roots. If you like you can take a swim in the lake or fish from the shore or the boat before returning to the mainland.

Day 7: El Calafate and the Patagonian Steppes
After breakfast you are transferred to the airport where you board a flight heading south, deeper into Patagonia. Your destination is El Calafate, named for a sweet fruit and home to 20,000 inhabitants. Situated on the Patagonian steppe and close to Lago Argentino with a surface area of 1,000 square miles and fed by glaciers straight from the South Continental Ice Cap. Upon arrival you are transferred to your lodge.

Day 8: A Walk on Perito Moreno Glacier
After a sumptuous breakfast enhanced by stunning views starts your day, you await the arrival of your private guide who will take you on a one hour drive to an area of boardwalks allow you to see and as importantly hear the great glacier moving slowly to the lake. If you are lucky you will see the glacier breaking off from the glacier into the lake. After a picnic lunch you will join a small group of fellow adventurers for a short boat ride across the “Brazo Rico” (the “rich” branch of Lake Argentina) to disembark on the opposite side. After a short walk through birch forests along the lake shore, your professional guides will place crampons on your feet and give you an informative talk on glaciology before you begin a walk on the glacier itself. If this is your first time on a glacier we can assure you that it is the experience of a lifetime. No experience is necessary, however, and the walk on the ice lasts about 90 minutes and is always escorted by professional guides. You will experience walking over seemingly endless ice, viewing crevices, underground rivers, waterfalls inside the glacier and ice-caves of iridescent and electric blue hues. Finally you will return by boat navigating very close to the Southern Face of the Glacier for outstanding photo opportunities.

Day 9: Journey to the Pampas
In the morning you will be transferred to the airport for a flight to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival you will be met and driven out on to the Pampas to an intimate and elegant hacienda where you will enjoy two night’s hospitality. This hospitality starts on the first night with drinks by the fireplace and a home-cooked meal.

Day 10: Living the Estancia Life
After a hearty breakfast it might be beneficial to take a walk among the estancia’s 400+ acres. There are over a dozen Criollo breed horses available for even the most novice of riders to explore on horseback. For the more experience riders, Polo lessons are available.

Day 11: Departing Argentina
You have the morning to enjoy the activities on offer. In the afternoon you will be transferred to the airport for the return flight to the USA.

You arrive back in the USA in the early morning.
