Day 1: Depart USA
Today you begin your journey to Africa with an intermediate stop in Europe. This will be the first step for your elegant Botswana Safari Vacation.
Day 2: Arrival in Botswana
You will arrive in Maun in the afternoon where you will be met and taken to the domestic area where you board an aircraft for Chief’s Camp situated on an island in the heart of the Okavango Delta. You will be met and transferred to your suite where you have time to refresh in your private pool before enjoying cocktails around the boma followed by dinner.
Days 3 & 4: Exploring the Okavango Delta
Your days stare with freshly-made tea, coffee or hot chocolate delivered to your suite. You then enjoy full English or a continental breakfast either in the dining room or on the terrace of your suite. You will then participate in morning game activities which could, depending on season, be by vehicle, on foot or in a Mokoro, flat-bottomed boat for two plus a guide. The reserve covers over 1,500 square miles of pristine wilderness and the varied terrain includes savannah, winding waterways and thick forest. This diversity supports an incredibly wide spectrum of wildlife ranging from large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra to the rare Sitatunga and Lechwe antelope and lion, cheetah and packs of wild dog in the open grasslands. The middle of the day includes an alfresco lunch and a chance to relax in the pool or with a book. In the afternoon you have another game activity followed by cocktails and canapes as you watch the sunset from a well-chosen location. You return to the camp to freshen up, enjoy a cocktail followed by a delicious dinner.
Day 5: Moremi to Selinda Reserve
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for a flight to Maun where you connect with a flight to the airstrip at Selinda Camp which is located in the private 320,000 acre Selinda Reserve of Northern Botswana along the banks of the Selinda Spillway, near the confluence of the Linyanti, Savute and Kwando Rivers. Upon landing you will be met and taken to Selinda Camp and your luxury tent. You will be in time for an afternoon game drive, sundowners and dinner.
Days 6 & 7: At Home in the Selinda Reserve
You will spend the next two days exploring various areas of the reserve. This sanctuary is well off the beaten path and offers guests an exclusive wildlife viewing experience. The varied landscape hosts a wide selection of species in diverse habitats. During you stay you can enjoy eco-friendly safaris including guided bush walks, 4 X 4 game drives and (based on season) boat safaris. You will spot an amazing array of wildlife such rare roan and sable antelopes, lion, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, African wild dog and elephant. At the peak of the dry season the concession boasts elephants by the thousands. After each day of game viewing refresh with a dip in the pool or a visit to the walk-in wine cellar and art gallery.
Day 8: Selinda to Chobe
In the morning you will board a flight to Maun which will connect to a flight to Kasane. Here you will be met and driven by road to your Camp which features elegant safari tents. You will have the chance for an afternoon game drive before dinner.
Days 9 & 10: The Wonders of Chobe
Surrounded by wildlife management areas and reserves that allow game to roam freely, the 4,500 square mile reserve of Chobe is located in the far north of Botswana, bordering on the Chobe River. Chobe is known for its large herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as two antelope that cannot be encountered anywhere else in Botswana, the puku and Chobe bushbuck. In addition to the vast floodplains that occur along the river, Chobe offers tracks of dry savannah. Dense teak woodland provides thick cover in the northeastern parts of the reserve. Watching the elephant families drink and bathe in the river will be an unforgettable sight, all the more impressive when herds of buffalo, rafts of hippo and gigantic Nile crocodiles are part of the scene. Lion and spotted hyena are frequently seen on the floodplains, where red lechwe, puku, zebra, sable and roan come out to graze. Great adventures await you.
Day 11: Return to USA
Today you are driven to Kasane airport to begin your journey back to the USA.
