Lake Malawi is the crowning jewel of this country and represents 20% of its total area. It is one of the largest, longest and deepest freshwater lakes in the world at 354 miles long, 51 miles wide and reaching depths of 2,100 feet. Day 5: Exploring the World of Tea
Located between Blantyre and Mount Mulanje in what is arguably the most scenically beautiful region of Malawi, the town of Thyolo serves as the capital of the Thyolo District. The area is best known for its historical tea and coffee estates, some of which date back as far as the early 1900’s. with its tidy landscape of undulating hills and immaculately kept tea and coffee estates, the Thyolo area is a pleasure to explore whether by bike, vehicle or on foot. The estate will also be glad to give you a detailed tour of this tea and coffee plantation.
Day 6: Majete Wildlife Reserve
In the morning your driver will be waiting to drive you to the Majete Wildlife Reserve which covers 500 square miles of the Great African Rift Valley. Its undulating terrain incorporates grassy plains, riverside groves and forests of marula, acacia and leadwood interspersed with palms and the occasional baobab tree. Check into your lodge and be escorted to your chalet with spacious living quarters and private viewing deck. After a cooling swim in the pool, you will have an evening game driver before dinner.
Day 7: Game viewing at Mkulumadzi
