Day 1: Depart USA
In the evening you board an aircraft bound for Europe where you will connect to a flight to Zambia. This will be the start of a Luxury Safari Experience in three African countries.
Day 2: Arrival in Zambia
When you arrive at Lilongwe airport you will be met and assisted with customs and luggage collection before being escorted to your flight to Mfuwe in South Luangwa National Park which contains some of the most breathtaking and untouched wilderness in Africa. As a result of the park’s successful anti-poaching campaigns, the area has developed into a world-renowned wildlife haven. After freshening up you depart for an afternoon of game viewing either on foot or in a vehicle enjoying sundowners in a shady and attractive spot before returning for a well prepared meal.
Days 3 & 4: Exploring South Luangwa
You have two full days to explore to explore the diverse areas of the park. Venture into one of the most game rich areas of the national park with your award winning guiding team on game drives and walking safaris. The park is renowned for its world class predator action, with especially strong sightings of the elusive leopard. You can also expect large herds of elephants and rivers packed with hippos and crocs. Diverse habitat supports a wide variety of plains game and birdlife alongside the predators attracted to the abundance. Enjoy the pure nature combined with the luxury conveniences of contemporary living.
Day 5: Zambia to Mozambique
In the morning you will be transferred back to Mfuwe airport for a connecting flight to Likoma Island which is located on the Mozambican side of Lake Malawi. A representative of your lodge will meet the flight and take you by boat to the lodge stopping at Cobue along the way for customs clearance. In the evening join the 12 other guests for cocktails and dinner.
Day 6 & 7: Relaxing on Lake Malawi
You have two full days to do as much or as little as you want. The lake is one of the largest, longest and deepest freshwater lakes in the world. Numerous fishing villages are scattered along its length but there are still vast stretches of uninhabited golden beaches. Known as the “Lake of Stars”, the natural beauty of the lake draws travelers from around the globe and yet it remains unknown to many. It has more species of fish than any other freshwater lake with over 600 species. The lake is 354 miles long, 59 miles wide and 2,000 feet deep in parts. It is ideal for Scuba and snorkeling with crystal clear waters and soft sandy bottoms. During your stay you may see hippos, crocodiles, fish eagles and over 1000 species of brightly-colored endemic fish.
Day 8: A Scenic Boat Ride to Likoma Island
This morning you will board a boat for a cruise on Lake Malawi to Likoma Island which is technically in Mozambique waters but the Island is part of Malawi. This island is home to the University Mission to Central Africa which was founded by Dr. David Livingstone. At the end of World War II Portugal retained the water rights but Britain the island rights which were transferred to Malawi at independence. The island is famous for its large cathedral, St. Peter’s, festering numerous stained glass windows and carved intricate soapstone details. You check into your intimate resort with just 11 rooms.
Days 9 & 10: The Choices at Kaya Mawa
During your stay at Kaya Mawa you can just relax on the beach, visit the span and enjoy romantic dinners on the beach just for the two of you. If you’re more active you can participate in stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, kitesurfing, waterskiing, sailing and quad-biking plus attending a full PADI dive school. A mix of each might be just right.
Day 11: Return to USA
You will be driven to Likoma airstrip for a flight to Lilongwe where you board a flight to connect with a US bound flight.
Day 12 Arrive in USA
Depending on your choice of connections you will arrive back in the USA today.
