Day 1: Depart USA
Today the family boards an aircraft for the flight to Saigon and the beginning of the family adventure in Vietnam.
Day 2: Welcome to Saigon
Upon arrival in Saigon your guide will meet you and take you to the car which will transfer you to your historic hotel overlooking the river. Refresh by taking a swim in the pool.
Day 3: Saigon and Surroundings
After a buffet breakfast you meet your guide and drive out into the countryside to explore the Cu Chi tunnels. These famous tunnels consist of an incredible underground network constructed by the Viet Cong in their conflict with both the French and later the Americans. You can crawl through the tunnels learning about how the soldiers and their families lived during the wartime periods. Return to Saigon by a speedboat on the Saigon River. You will then visit Cholon, the city’s Chinatown district where you have lunch. You will travel by Xe lam, local trucks with long benches perfect for zipping around the city. Your guide will help explore the markets and shops of the area. At the Thien Hay Pagoda the children can light incense coils that can burn up to 10 days and make a wish at the same time. At the end of the afternoon you will watch a traditional music show in a private home and participation by all is welcome. Return to the hotel to relax before dinner at a BBQ restaurant where you grill your own meal to celebrate a full day of adventures.

Day 4: Cai Be and the Mekong Delta
In the morning you will be met by your guide and driven out of the city to the town of Cai Be. Along the way you will enjoy the scenery, especially the bustling markets and the brilliant colors. You arrive in Cai Be and board your Bassac boat. A welcome drink will be given as you meet the crew. You then depart on the Tien Giang River towards Cho Lach while enjoying lunch on the upper deck. Pick a deckchair and enjoy the view while the ship branches into the Cho Lach Canal mixing with the traffic of sand and rice barges and passing fruit drying facilities. Stop to visit a village to visit one of the orchards. As the sun sets enjoy dinner before the boat anchors for the night.

Day 5: Cai Rang Floating Market and the Can Tho Countryside
Enjoy breakfast as your boat makes its way to Can Tho. Upon arrival you depart the boat and the driver will store your luggage as you board a local boat to visit the Cai Rang floating market. The main items sold are fruit and vegetables, with each boat advertising their goods to sale on ling upright poles as the “shoppers’ paddle from boat to boat. Return to can Tho to meet your driver and have lunch before checking into your hotel. In the afternoon, spend time cycling around the quite pathways of Can Tho. Biking is the perfect way to discover the countryside with the family. The roads ae flat and you travel between small farms harvesting or planting rice and friendly locals who will stop what they are doing to interact.

Day 6: Can Tho to Dalat
Today you will drive back to Saigon where your guide will take you to the airport for an afternoon flight to Dalat. Dalat was a popular hill station retreat during French Colonial times and still attracts tourists because of its cool climate and picturesque scenery. Upon arrival you are transferred to your hotel. Dinner is at the hotel.

Day 7: Exploring the Foothills of Dalat
Today enjoy discovering the fresh air and countryside of Dalat on foot. Start hiking along locally cut trails meandering among pine trees. The trail ultimately leads to Tiger Waterfall. Continue on to Phoenix Waterfall flowing through colossal old trees. The river that feeds the falls is the main source for water supplying the coffee and vegetable farms of the area. After crossing the hill, stop to Visit Lieng Tro, a local indigenous village, for a first-hand look at their daily activities. After lunch follow trails down the hill and enjoy the adventure of crossing hanging bridges. (It should be noted that all activities are adjusted to the age and fitness level of the travelers and your guide will adjust accordingly). After your country day you return to the hotel where you are free to choose from a variety of restaurants in town, many, not surprisingly, offering French-inspired food.

Day 8: Biking in the Mountains, Relaxing on the Coast
In the morning your guide will take you on a scenic bike ride to provide views of Xuan Huong Lake and Victory Lake. You will continue to the mountain top overlooking the Valley of Love. Here you will enjoy a picnic lunch before returning to the hotel. In the afternoon your driver will be waiting to drive you from the mountains to the coast and the city of Nha Trang and your hotel overlooking the ocean. You can take a dip in the ocean or enjoy the pool at the hotel.

Day 9: Nha Trang at Night
Most of the day is left open for you to enjoy the beach or explore the town. In the late afternoon, as the day cools your guide along with local cyclo drivers will pick you up at the hotel for a “streets and eats” tour. As you move around town you will sample some of the renowned Nha Trang street food including ‘banh can’ (a grilled rice cake) ‘nem nuong’ (Vietnamese Spring rolls), grilled shellfish and BBQ. Finish up with ice cream sitting on the sidewalks with the locals, an experience the whole family will treasure.

Day 10: Return to USA
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Saigon and your return trip to the USA.
